Kolyada 2022

We, Ukrainians, would like to share with all Frederictonians the celebration of beautiful, one of the most essential Holidays - Christmas. 

Ukrainian Christmas is full of wonderful traditions, and we would like to tell you more about one of them. 

To make sure that everyone can feel the Christmas spirit we will start our big street celebration with Traditional Ukrainian Carols, also called Kolyadky. This festive tradition, when a group of people go from house to house singing carols is called KOLYADA.  They say that the more carols come to a home, the more fortune and wealth will come to the family during the following year. 

Usually, these special songs and verses are taken from home to home in exchange for gifts, treats and reward. But this year we don’t want any treats. We have other important mission to do. 

Citizens of Canada have been helping Ukraine since the beginning of the devastating war. We deeply appreciate and value your support! 

And during the festive season, with open hearts we are happy  to bring joy to your home by singing carols,  and also, with our prayers and thoughts for Ukrainian defenders, we ask you to help us collect funds for purchasing essential medical supplies that will help our military doctors to save soldiers’ lives. 

While the whole world is celebrating Christmas, our soldiers are defending our beautiful country - Ukraine . 

Let’s stand up with them, let’s lighten up the whole world with love, peace, hope, joy by the birth of Jesus in Bethlehem.
